How Much Does Website Maintenance Cost in India?
Every website needs ongoing care to stay secure, fast, and up to date. The cost of website maintenance depends mainly on four things: the type of site you run, the platform it's built on, how often you need content updates, and the level of monitoring and support you want. This free calculator gives you an instant monthly estimate so you can budget with confidence.
Website Maintenance Cost by Site Type
A simple business or brochure website usually costs ₹1,500–₹2,500 per month to maintain — covering security updates, backups, and uptime monitoring. An active lead-generation site with regular content changes runs ₹3,000–₹5,000 per month. E-commerce stores need closer monitoring of payments, stock, and checkout, so they range from ₹7,000–₹15,000 per month, while web applications and SaaS products start around ₹10,000 and go up based on complexity.
| Site Type | Typical Monthly Cost (India) | What Drives the Price |
|---|---|---|
| Business / brochure site (5-10 pages) | ₹1,500 – ₹2,500 | Security patches, backups, uptime + SSL monitoring |
| Active lead-generation site | ₹3,000 – ₹5,000 | Above + regular content updates, form monitoring, SEO health checks |
| E-commerce store | ₹7,000 – ₹15,000 | Above + payment/checkout monitoring, stock updates, order-flow testing |
| Web application / SaaS | ₹10,000 – ₹18,000 | Above + dependency updates, staging environment, error monitoring, priority support |
Our Published Maintenance Plans
If you'd rather skip the estimate and see real prices, our website maintenance plans are published with full inclusions:
| Plan | Price | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Care | ₹1,999/month | Simple business & brochure sites — security patches, weekly backups, uptime + SSL monitoring, 2 content updates/month |
| Standard Care | ₹4,999/month | Active lead-generation sites — daily backups, 5 content updates + 1 new page/month, Core Web Vitals checks, form monitoring |
| Premium Care | ₹12,999/month | E-commerce & high-traffic sites — priority same-day support, 12 updates/month (fair use), payment monitoring, staging environment |
What Drives Maintenance Cost Up?
The biggest factors are content updates (how many changes you need each month), e-commerce monitoring (payment and order flows need active attention), SEO health monitoring, and priority support (same-day response). Custom-coded sites can also need slightly more care than template-based CMS sites. Security patches, backups, and uptime monitoring are the foundation of every plan and are always included.
Why a Maintenance Plan Pays for Itself
An unmaintained website is the most common cause of hacks, downtime, and lost leads. The OWASP Top 10 lists vulnerable and outdated components among the most common web security risks — exactly what unpatched plugins and CMS cores are. Expired certificates are equally avoidable: Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically only when someone is watching the renewal job. And Google's Core Web Vitals — a ranking signal — degrade silently as images, plugins, and scripts pile up without periodic performance checks.
A fixed monthly plan is far cheaper than emergency recovery — and it keeps your site fast, secure, and converting around the clock. At Redpulse Software, our in-house team maintains WordPress, custom, and e-commerce sites for businesses across Tamil Nadu and India, with transparent INR pricing and real, reachable support.
The Full Cost Picture: Every Component, Itemized
Maintenance plans are only part of what a website costs to keep running. Domain renewal and hosting are billed separately by your registrar and host — most price guides quietly mix them together, which is how two "₹2,000/month" quotes can differ by ₹15,000 a year. Here is the honest split, with typical Indian market prices:
| Component | Typical Annual Cost (India) | Who Bills It |
|---|---|---|
| Domain renewal (.com / .in) | ₹800 – ₹1,600 | Your registrar (GoDaddy, Hostinger, BigRock) |
| Hosting — shared | ₹2,000 – ₹8,000 | Your hosting provider |
| Hosting — cloud / VPS (e-commerce, apps) | ₹6,000 – ₹20,000 | Your hosting provider |
| SSL certificate | ₹0 (Let's Encrypt) – ₹5,000+ (OV/EV) | Host or certificate authority |
| Security patches, CMS & plugin updates | Included in the plan | Your maintenance provider |
| Backups, uptime + SSL renewal monitoring | Included in the plan | Your maintenance provider |
| Content updates, performance checks | Included in the plan | Your maintenance provider |
Our plan prices do not include hosting and domain — no agency's genuinely do, even when the quote hides it. If a quote bundles "everything", ask which hosting tier is inside it. The answer is usually the cheapest shared plan.
Your First-Year Budget: Everything Together
Putting plan, hosting, and domain side by side, this is what a full year of ownership looks like for the common site types:
| Site Type | Plan | Plan / Year | Hosting + Domain (est.) | Year Total ≈ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business / brochure site | Basic Care ₹1,999/mo | ₹23,988 | ₹3,000 – ₹6,000 | ₹27,000 – ₹30,000 |
| Active lead-generation site | Standard Care ₹4,999/mo | ₹59,988 | ₹5,000 – ₹10,000 | ₹65,000 – ₹70,000 |
| E-commerce store | Premium Care ₹12,999/mo | ₹1,55,988 | ₹10,000 – ₹20,000 | ₹1,66,000 – ₹1,76,000 |
Put another way: Basic Care works out to about ₹66 a day for a website that stays patched, backed up, and online. A single day of downtime during a busy period costs most businesses more than that month's fee.
DIY vs Freelancer vs Agency AMC
Who should actually do the maintenance? There are three honest options, and the right one depends on how much your website earns for you:
| Option | Typical Cost | Works When | The Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do it yourself | ₹0 + your time | Hobby sites, blogs with no revenue riding on them | Updates get skipped the month you're busy — which is every month. Most hacked sites we're asked to fix were "self-maintained". |
| Freelancer, pay-per-task | ₹500 – ₹2,000 per task | Rare, small changes on a stable site | Nobody is watching between tasks. Renewals, patches, and backups have no owner. |
| Agency AMC plan | ₹1,999 – ₹12,999/mo (our published range) | Business sites where leads or sales depend on uptime | Costs more than DIY. You're paying for the watching, not just the doing. |
Our view, plainly: pay-per-task looks cheaper on paper and usually isn't. The expensive failures — expired SSL, hacked plugin, broken checkout — happen precisely in the gaps when nobody is paid to look. What you buy with a monthly plan is that someone notices on day one, not when a customer calls.
WordPress vs Custom-Coded: Does the Platform Change the Price?
Slightly. Our calculator applies about 10% extra for custom-coded sites, and that reflects real work: WordPress ships security releases you can apply in a standard cycle, while custom code needs its framework and dependency updates done by hand. The trade-off runs the other way too — custom sites carry no plugin ecosystem, which is where most WordPress compromises start. Neither platform is "free" to maintain; they just fail differently when ignored.
How We Calculated These Numbers
The figures on this page come from three places: our own published AMC plans (₹1,999 / ₹4,999 / ₹12,999 — real plans anyone can buy, not teaser rates), the maintenance quotes we prepare every week for businesses in Tamil Nadu and across India, and public renewal prices from the registrars and hosts Indian SMEs actually use. Figures checked August 2026. Two things to note when comparing quotes: all prices here are exclusive of GST (18% applies on invoices), and our plans are monthly with no lock-in — you can cancel with 14 days' notice, so a plan never becomes a trap.
